Privacy Policy

[Name of Website/Organization] (hereinafter referred to as “the Organization”) establishes the following privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as “this Policy”) regarding the handling of users’ personal information on the website operated by the Organization (hereinafter referred to as “the Site”).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

In this Policy, “Personal Information” shall refer to “personal information” as defined in Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003; hereinafter referred to as the “APPI”). It is information about a living individual which can identify the specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, or other descriptions contained in such information, as well as data related to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, and personal identification numbers such as the insurer number on a health insurance card, which can identify the specific individual by itself.

Article 2 (Method of Acquiring Personal Information)

The Organization may ask for Personal Information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, and email address when a user registers for use. Additionally, the Organization may acquire the user’s name, telephone number, and email address when receiving inquiries or comments. Personal Information will be acquired through appropriate means, not through deceit or other wrongful methods.

Article 3 (Purpose of Use of Personal Information)

The purposes for which the Organization collects and uses Personal Information are as follows:

  1. For the provision and operation of the services offered by the Organization (hereinafter referred to as “the Service”).
  2. To respond to inquiries from users (including for the purpose of identity verification).
  3. To send emails regarding new features, updates, campaigns, etc., of the Service the user is currently using, as well as information on other services provided by the Organization.
  4. To contact users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, and other communications.
  5. To identify users who have violated the terms of use of the Service or who intend to use the Service for fraudulent or unjust purposes, and to refuse their use.

Article 4 (Changes to the Purpose of Use)

  2. In the event of a change in the purpose of use, the Organization shall notify the user of the revised purpose or publicly announce it on the Site in a manner prescribed by the Organization.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

  1. Except in the following cases, the Organization will not provide Personal Information to a third party without the prior consent of the user. This does not apply to cases permitted under the APPI and other laws and regulations.
    1. When it is necessary for the protection of a person’s life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual.
    2. When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual.
    3. When it is necessary to cooperate with a state organ, a local government, or an individual or entity entrusted by one in executing the affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining the consent of the individual is likely to impede the execution of the said affairs.
    4. When the following matters have been announced or published in advance, and the Organization has notified the Personal Information Protection Commission:
      1. That the provision to a third party is included in the purpose of use.
      2. The items of data to be provided to the third party.
      3. The means or method of provision to the third party.
      4. That the provision of Personal Information to the third party will be stopped at the request of the individual.
      5. The method for accepting the individual’s request.
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in the following cases, the recipient of the information shall not be considered a third party.
    1. When the Organization entrusts the handling of Personal Information in whole or in part to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use.
    2. When Personal Information is provided as a result of the succession of business in a merger or otherwise.
    3. When Personal Information is to be used jointly with a specific party, and that fact, the items of the Personal Information to be used jointly, the scope of the joint users, the purpose of use of the users, and the name or title of the person responsible for the management of the said Personal Information are notified to the individual in advance, or are placed in a readily accessible condition for the individual.

Article 6 (Security Management of Personal Information)

The Organization shall take necessary and appropriate organizational, personnel, physical, and technical measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of the Personal Information it handles and to otherwise securely manage the Personal Information.

Article 7 (Disclosure, Correction, Addition, Deletion, and Suspension of Use of Personal Information)

  1. When an individual requests the disclosure of their Personal Information, the Organization shall disclose it to the individual without delay. However, if disclosure would fall under any of the following, the Organization may decide not to disclose all or part of the information, and if such a decision is made, the individual will be notified to that effect without delay.
    1. If there is a risk of harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party.
    2. If there is a risk of seriously impeding the proper execution of the Organization’s business.
    3. If it would violate other laws and regulations.
  2. If a user’s Personal Information held by the Organization is incorrect, the user may request the Organization to correct, add to, or delete (hereinafter referred to as “Correction, etc.”) the Personal Information in accordance with the procedures prescribed by the Organization.
  3. If the Organization receives a request from a user as described in the preceding paragraph and deems it necessary to respond to the request, it shall make the Correction, etc., to the said Personal Information without delay.
  4. When an individual requests the suspension of use or deletion (hereinafter referred to as “Suspension of Use, etc.”) of their Personal Information on the grounds that it is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or that it was obtained by wrongful means, the Organization shall conduct the necessary investigation without delay, and based on the results, shall perform the Suspension of Use, etc., of the Personal Information and notify the individual to that effect.

Article 8 (Use of Cookies)

The Site may use cookies to improve user convenience, understand access status, and deliver advertisements. A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on a user’s computer.
